Undergraduate Students

Majors

The Mathematics and Statistics department offers the following undergraduate majors: Pure Math, Applied Math, Math Education, Mathematics Computing and Statistics. Please click on the link above or here to find specific information regarding each of the above majors.

Non-Majors

Undergraduate Students who are pursuing disciplines other than Mathematics or Statistics must fulfill the general education mathematics requirement by taking one of several mathematics courses. The exact course you need to take is determined by your intended major and should be discussed with your academic advisor before registering. It is highly recommended that you complete this general education requirement by the time you have earned 60 credits at the university. For information regarding possible courses that fulfill this requirement click on the link above or here.

Math Placement

Unless you have transfer credit in mathematics above the developmental level (MTH 128 or above) all students who have not taken any math courses at Wright State University must take the math placement test. This test is administered by the University College, not the Mathematics and Statistics department. The test can be taken on campus or at certain offcampus locations. Click on the Math Placement button to the left or here for further information.

Practice Tests

Click on the link above or here to find links to .pdf files of practice tests and practice finals for several undergraduate courses. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to be able to open the test files. Please note that these must be printed out and cannot be completed online. IMPORTANT: These practice tests are offered only as an additional study resource and do not necessarily reflect everything that will be on the real tests given by your instructor.

Math Help

Students needing additional assistance in mathematics and statistics are encouraged to take advantage of their instructor's office hours, supplemental instruction sessions, the Math Help Room in the basement of Dunbar Library and tutoring offered by the Student Success Center. Click on the menu button above or here for more information.
